Abstract:
Apollo Group (Apollo), a US-based for-profit education company provided higher education programs tailor-made for working adults. The group with its four subsidiaries successfully established itself as a highly profitable post secondary education company. By focusing on the needs of working adult students, treating students as customers and meeting the changing market needs by providing online courses, Apollo became the largest private university in the US.

Pedagogical Objectives:

  • To discuss how Apollo built a billion-dollar business by carving a niche for itself in the 'working adult students education market', which for long had remained unattended by the traditional universities.
